Dravidar Vidudhalai Kazhagam party head Kolathur Mani urges thorough probe on Farooq's death

A scrap dealer by profession, Farooq (31), resided in the Birla Estate Area of Ukkadam and he was a member of Dravidar Vidudhalai Kazhagam. It has been reported that last night, Farooq received a call from a person who claimed to talk business with him.

Farooq was invited to the area where the corporation waste is drained. This we are told is a secluded area. A gang of men armed with sharp weapons reached this location and they have reportedly murdered Farooq. This incident has sent shock waves to the DVK party members as Farooq has been a very active person in the party. It has been said that Farooq has been posting his views against superstitions and religions in social medias.

Meanwhile, Ansrath (31) of Podanur surrendered at the Coimbatore District Combined Court Complex this afternoon. Farooq’s body has been sent for a post-mortem. A highly placed source shares with us that four special teams have been formed to nab the gang behind this murder.

Kolathur Mani, party head visited the family of the deceased and offered his condolence. While interacting with the media, he said “In recent times, people who register their views on religion, caste and superstitious beliefs have been targeted. It is unfortunate that we have lost one of our members. Police should investigate thoroughly and nab the criminals', he said.

TPDK, General Secretary, K. Ramakrishnan was also present along with Kolathur Mani. Last rites of Farooq will be performed once the body is handed over to the family.
