Dr. P. Krishnadas, Managing Trustee of Nehru Group of Institutions arrested in Thrissur


Based on a complaint filed by one of its students of law named Shakeer Shoukath, Dr. P.Krishnadas, the present Managing Trustee of the Nehru Group of Institutions (NGI) has been reportedly arrested in Thrissur, Kerala. This student went on record to admit that he was allegedly tortured by the Managing Trustee along with a few other people of this group. He (the student) claims that Dr. P.Krishnadas and his associates reportedly locked him up in a dark room for eight days and tortured him.

The student also told Thrissur police that he escaped from the clutches of those who had reportedly locked him up and he also exposed the fact that NGI has been involved in torturing its students. This student also alleged that unable to bear the torture of the management and staff of this educational institution, one of the students namely Vishnu Pranoy, reportedly committed suicide in January this year.

Following the statement of this student, the Thrissur police today arrested Adv. Dr. P.Krishnadas, Adv. Suchitra, Prof. Sukumar and Valsan Kumar. It may be noted that Dr. P. Krishnadas is already on a conditional bail and this is not the first time that the students of the NGI have reported against the management for allegedly being tortured by the management and staff of the NGI. NGI, under its trust runs more than a dozen educational institutions in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. 

The arrest of the managing trustee of Nehru Group of Institutions has sent shock waves amongst the students and parents of NGI, Coimbatore.
