Major Fire Incident at a Private Yarn Mill near Udumalai - Rs. 4 Crore Worth Yarn Destroyed

A severe blaze at a yarn production facility in Udumalai resulted in extensive damage, with a significant financial loss estimated at Rs. 4 crores.


Tirupur: A catastrophic fire broke out today at a private yarn mill in the Pooalanginar area of Udumalai, Tirupur district.



The mill, known for producing yarn from cotton, suffered a severe setback as the fire rapidly engulfed the storage warehouse containing yarn bundles. Panic-stricken workers raised an alarm and fled the scene.



The fire brigade, led by Officer Gopal, was immediately informed and rushed to the site.



Despite the intense flames, firefighters progressively managed to control the fire after several hours of effort. Over 15 water tankers were deployed by the administration to aid the firefighting operations.



The inferno resulted in the complete destruction of yarn valued at Rs. 4 crores, prepared for export, and the collapse of the entire storage facility.



The incident has caused significant commotion in the area, with ongoing investigations by the fire department and Udumalai police.
