Residents of Kudimangalam Union in Udumalai area stage a protest against the proposed modern liquor shop, citing safety and public welfare concerns.
Tirupur: Today, residents from the Kudimangalam Union near Udumalai, part of Tirupur district, gathered in protest against the establishment of a new state-run liquor shop in the Bethapampatti Four Roads area on the Pollachi Road.

The area, a central hub for over 50 villages and home to schools, temples, and businesses, is already troubled by existing liquor shops, causing distress among locals, including school students. The proposed modern liquor shop with refrigeration facilities has intensified these concerns. Locals, fearing increased accidents and a lack of safety for children, have urged authorities to relocate the shop. They submitted a petition to the Rural Development Officer and warned of continued protests if their demands are not met.

The community emphasizes the need for a safer environment and the potential hazards the liquor shop could bring to this busy area.
