Coimbatore Corporation conducts extensive inspections, confiscating 188 kg of banned plastic and imposing fines totaling ₹1,28,100 across various zones in a single day.
Coimbatore: Following the directives of Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Coimbatore Corporation today seized 188 kg of plastic from 621 shops across the city.
The breakdown of the raids includes 56 shops in the East Zone, 131 in the West, 94 in the North, 110 in the South, and 196 in the Central Zone. The respective quantities of plastic seized were 46+ kg in East, 16+ kg in West, 24+ kg in North, 20+ kg in South, and 63+ kg in Central Zone.
Additionally, a total fine of ₹1,28,100 was levied across all zones in a significant move to enforce the ban on plastic and promote environmental sustainability.
