Coimbatore Municipal Corporation initiates drainage construction projects in East Zone, Ward 60 and Ward 52, to improve the city's rainwater management.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, under the East Zone, has embarked on significant drainage construction projects in two wards. In Ward 60, Varadarajapuram Main Road sees the beginning of a ₹10 lakh rainwater drainage project, initiated by East Zone Leader, Mrs. Ilakkumi Ilanjelvi Karthik Mc., along with Ward 60 Council Member Mr. Singai M. Siva, Assistant Engineer Mr. Ganesan, Mr. Jayaraman, and local residents.

Additionally, in Ward 52, Vikas Lay Out, Mrs. Ilakkumi Ilanjelvi Karthik Mc., also inspected ongoing rainwater drainage works valued at ₹20 lakh. She instructed the contractors to expedite the completion of the project. Assistant Engineer Mrs. Jagatheeswari, Committee Member Mr. Balan Nagar, Balu, and the public were present during the inspection.
These projects are part of Coimbatore's ongoing efforts to enhance its rainwater management system and prevent waterlogging during monsoon seasons. The new drainage facilities aim to improve urban infrastructure and living conditions for residents in these areas.
