Power Cut Notification for Kavundampalayam Substation Region in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The local electricity board has notified residents of an impending power shutdown in the Gaundampalayam substation area due to scheduled maintenance work. The outage will occur on January 9, 2024, from 9 AM to 4 PM, affecting multiple localities.

The areas to be impacted are:

- Nallampalayam: Housing Unit, A.R. Nagar, Thamarai Nagar, Driver Colony, Samundeeswari Nagar, Suguna Nagar, Union Road, Bharathi Nagar, T.V.S. Nagar, Gem Nagar, Maniyakarampalayam (part).

- Saibaba Colony: Indira Nagar, Cauvery Nagar, Jeeva Nagar, Kamaraj Road, K.K. Pudur 6th Street, Ganapathy Layout, K.G. Layout, Ammasaickonar Road, N.R.G. Street.

- Idaiyar Palayam: P.T. Colony, E.B. Colony, Poompuhar Nagar, T.V.S. Nagar, Arun Nagar, Annai Amirthanandha Nagar, Ramalakshmi Nagar, Valli Nagar, Shiva Nagar.

- Cheran Nagar: Cheran Nagar, I.T.I. Nagar, Thendral Nagar, Saravana Nagar, Balan Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Railway Mens Colony, Ranga Majestic, Ramakrishna Nagar, and the Gaundampalayam Water Purification Plant.

- Lenin Nagar: Subpathal Layout, Shastri Road, Maruthakutti Layout, Sampath Road, Periyar Road, V.U.C. Road, C.G. Layout, Nedunchezian Road, and Deivanayagi Nagar.

- Sanganur: New Thottam, Kannappan Nagar, Periyar Nagar, and Karupparayan Kovil Street.

Residents and businesses in these regions are advised to prepare for the outage and make alternative arrangements where necessary. The maintenance work is part of the electricity board’s efforts to ensure a stable and continuous power supply throughout the year. The board has requested the understanding and cooperation of the affected communities during this period.

During the outage, emergency services like hospitals and police stations are typically prepared with backup generators, but residents may need to plan ahead for matters such as food storage and power-dependant care activities.

The electricity board has assured that all efforts will be made to complete the maintenance work efficiently and restore power as quickly as possible.
