Coimbatore: The railway gate at Karamadai-Tholampalayam has been closed indefinitely starting today (May 6) morning for undertaking expansion works at Karamadai railway station.

The Southern Railway Salem Division has announced the closure to facilitate construction of a new platform and other essential infrastructure development works at the station. The indefinite closure will remain in effect until the completion of the ongoing projects.

Railway officials have advised the public to use the newly constructed overbridge or take alternative routes to reach their destinations during this period. The expansion works are part of the modernization and capacity enhancement initiatives being undertaken by the Southern Railway.
