Tension at Kullakkapalayam Panchayat Over Alleged Malpractices in Pollachi

A dispute erupted among members of the Kullakkapalayam Panchayat near Pollachi over alleged irregularities in governance, leading to a walkout by Vice-Chairman Shanmugasundaram and other members.

Pollachi, Jan 10: In Kullakkapalayam Panchayat, near Pollachi, chaired by DMK's Karthikeyani Nagaraj, a contentious meeting took place today, with allegations of malpractice in governance. Nine DMK-supported members hold positions in this panchayat. During the meeting, Vice-Chairman Shanmugasundaram and other members raised questions about the improper execution of public welfare schemes, the lack of regular monthly meetings, and the inaccurate submission of income and expenditure accounts.

The situation escalated into a heated argument, causing a disturbance. Subsequently, Shanmugasundaram, along with several members, staged a walkout. They alleged that despite funds being allocated, the panchayat was engaged in malpractices, and the leader's attendance records were falsely documented. This incident, where DMK-affiliated panchayat members accused their own party's panchayat leader of irregularities, has sparked controversy and raised questions about governance in Kullakkapalayam Panchayat.
