Sankara College of Science and Commerce Hosts Grand Pongal Vizha 2024

Sankara College of Science and Commerce in Coimbatore celebrated Pongal Vizha on January 12, 2024, with traditional fervor and cultural showcases.


Coimbatore: Sankara College of Science and Commerce vibrantly celebrated PONGAL VIZHA - 2024 on January 12, 2024, in the college campus. The event was graced by esteemed guests including Thiru.T.P.Ramachandran, Secretary, Mrs. Sandhiya Ramachandran, Secretary, and Ms. Nithya Ramachandran, Deputy Joint Secretary.

Students dressed in traditional attire added to the cultural ambiance of the campus. The event started with the recital of 'Tamilthai Vazhthu'. Thiru.T.P.Ramachandran, Secretary, delivered a special address, emphasizing the significance of the Pongal festival.











A procession featuring Thiru.T.P.Ramachandran, other dignitaries, and faculty members was accompanied by traditional Tamil percussion artists. The celebration showcased various folk arts of Tamil Nadu, including Karagaattam, Thappaattam, Oilaattam, Puliaattam, and Poikaalkuthirai, along with performances by Sankara students.

Additional activities and games added to the festivity. The Fine Arts club organized an interdepartmental rangoli competition and Pongal cooking contest. Students enjoyed bullock cart rides and the traditional 'uri adithal' game. The day concluded with prize announcements for the best Pongal and Rangoli, accompanied by the Jamap rhythm, culminating in a feast of traditional foods.
