Coimbatore: The Marudhamalai Subramaniyaswami Temple, considered the seventh abode of Lord Murugan, is commencing its annual Thaipoosam Festival with a ceremonial flag hoisting today. Celebrated every year with great fervor are the Vaikasi Visakam, Kanda Sashti, and Thaipoosam chariot festivals. This year, the ten-day Thaipoosam festival starts with the flag hosting between 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, accompanied by auspicious music, and the flag bearing the emblem of a rooster will be hoisted during an auspicious Makara Lagna.
Significant events of the festival, including the Thirukalyanam (Celestial Wedding) on the 24th and the Ther Vadam (Chariot Pulling) on the 25th, are expected to be grandiose.
