Wastes continue to get dumped in the Noyyal pathways, Corporation acts swiftly to clear trash.

While various NGOs and environmentalists along with city corporation are striving hard to restore the water bodies in the city. It is disheartening to learn that dumping along the banks of these water bodies and encroachments continue to happen.

A couple of days back, an environmentalist found loads of garbage being dumped into the pathway of Noyyal river at Aathupalayam. The issue was captured through photographs and was passed on to City Corporation. Reacting to the complaint, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan passed orders to deploy Corporation staff to clear the garbage from the water body, immediately.

A dozen of corporation workers under the supervision of Corporation Officer Loganathan swung into action and cleared wastes like plastics, clothes, torn beds, bottles, unused household consumables which were dumped into the water body.

'Despite, creating persistent awareness on the importance to conserve the water bodies, such insensible act by some people actually complicates all the good efforts carried by NGOs and environmentalist' said a Volunteer of water restoration team.
