ICCI,Coimbatore Chapter welcomes the completion of Pollachi-Podanur broad gauge work.

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Coimbatore Chapter through a press statement have expressed their whole hearted appreciations for the completion of work on the Podanur - Pollachi Railway line. 


Vanitha Mohan, President, ICCI has thanked and congratulated the Hon'ble Union Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu for announcing that train services between Podanur and Pollachi would commence within a week's time and for allotting sufficient funds for establishment of this rail line.

Definitely, this new broad gauge line will provide a vital rail link from Coimbatore to Southern Cities like Palani, Madurai, Rameshwaram and Nagercoil and considerably reduce the travelling time as well. Hence, the department should initiate steps for commencement of passenger and freight services on this line and for the restoration of all the trains, which operated on this line during its meter gauge time', President ICCI, Vanitha Mohan said.

ICCI, Coimbatore Chapter has also thanked the Union Minister for acceding to their request of introducing a night train between Coimbatore to Bangalore, which will probably come into operation from July, 2017.
