Woman Rescued from Well after an Hour-long Struggle Near Udumalai

In a dramatic rescue operation, Vellaiyammal, aged 35, was saved after falling into an open well in Kuralguttai village near Udumalai, Tirupur district, thanks to the swift action of the local fire department.


Udumalai: A remarkable rescue operation unfolded near Udumalai in the Tirupur district, where a woman fought for her life for over an hour after falling into an open well. The incident occurred in the Kuralguttai village, part of the Udumalai union, where Vellaiyammal, a 35-year-old resident, accidentally fell into the well located on the outskirts of the village.

Her cries for help were heard by passersby, who immediately alerted the Udumalai fire department. Led by Station Officer R. Latchumanan, the fire department personnel rushed to the scene without delay. Demonstrating quick thinking and bravery, the rescue team descended into the well. Vellaiyammal, in a desperate bid for survival, had managed to cling onto a motor pipe inside the well.

After a tense hour-long effort, the rescuers successfully secured Vellaiyammal with a rope and carefully hoisted her to safety. She was then handed over to her relieved family members. The successful rescue operation brought a sigh of relief to the Kuralguttai community and highlighted the courage and efficiency of the Udumalai fire department team in saving a life under challenging conditions.
