Coimbatore Chapter of Young Indians bags five national awards.

The Coimbatore Chapter of Young Indians (Yi) has won five national awards in their recently concluded 13th National Summit ‘Take Pride’ conducted on March 24th and 25th 2017.

 
Yi Coimbatore Chapter has won the following awards:
1) Overall excellence in 2016-17
2) Raising Significant Sponsorship in 2016-17
3) Activities and initiatives undertaken under Project ‘Gift an organ’
4) Delivering Value to students through ‘Yuva’
5) Hosting an youth conclave ‘Blitz’ in Coimbatore
It is notable that Coimbatore has consistently won awards under the first two categories for four consecutive years. The awards were received by Yi Coimbatore Chair Balaji P B, Co-chair Prasanna Krishna, Co-chair designate Dipender Singh and all the other Coimbatore chapter members were present in the summit. The awards were handed over by Yi National Chair, Raghu Kailas and Co-chair, Jacob Joy.
Past Chairs of CII, Rahul Mirchandai, Srikanth Suryanarayanan, Shankar Vanavarayar, Kumaraguru and Shaurya Veer were also present during the event. 
Some of the notable achievements in the last year include:
1) Tsunami sweep of 30 km stretch from Thadagam road to Anaikatti under Project ‘Swacch Bharat’.
2) Impacting about 1,30,100 people by creating awareness about Child safety under Project ‘Masoom’.
3) Conducting free comprehensive medical camps and providing free treatment to all permanent employed workers of the Coimbatore Corporation under Project ‘Healthy Kovai’.
4) Creating awareness amongst TNSTC drivers about the harms of unnecessary honking under Project ‘ Horn not Okay Please’
5) Conducting the 9 th edition of Coimbatore Vizha in the last week of Jan 2017. This year’s edition saw about 97 events happening with the support of 65 organizations throughout Coimbatore.
Young Indians is an integral part of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Young Indians is present in 42 cities throughout India. The Coimbatore Chapter of Young Indians is the largest in country in terms of membership with more than 163 members. The membership comprises of people from all walks of life in the age group of 21-40 years of age. Young Indians Coimbatore chapter is 12-year-old and known for iconic projects like ‘Coimbatore Vizha’ and ‘Gift an Organ’ campaign.
