If PM Modi Commands me, I'll contest: Annamalai reiterates his Focus on Coordinating BJP's Election Efforts

In Coimbatore, BJP State President Annamalai clarified he has not stated intentions to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections, focusing instead on coordinating BJP's efforts to win 39 seats. He emphasized highlighting the need for action against drug trafficking and encouraging societal elders to undertake initiatives similar to Sri Sri Ravishankar for community betterment.

Coimbatore: During a press conference at Coimbatore airport, BJP State President Annamalai addressed speculation about his candidacy in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He firmly stated that he had not expressed any intention to contest and is currently focused on coordinating efforts to secure victory for the BJP in 39 constituencies. "However, if Prime Minister Modi commands, I am ready to comply," he added, showcasing his loyalty to the party and its leadership.

Annamalai also took the opportunity to discuss broader social issues, urging societal elders to adopt roles in social activism, akin to Gurudev, particularly in combating drug abuse. He pointed out the significant drug trafficking problem at the borders of India, naming the Golden Crescent and Golden Triangle as major sources of narcotics entering the country. He accused neighboring countries like Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Cambodia of contributing to the crisis and praised Prime Minister Modi's stringent measures against drug trafficking.

Highlighting the internal challenges, Annamalai emphasized the need for a combined effort from both law enforcement and family monitoring to curb the menace. He criticized the current state of affairs where individuals like Jafer Sadik, once arrested for drug trafficking, are now operating at much larger scales, indicating a failure in continuous surveillance and law enforcement.

Annamalai's remarks also covered the importance of BJP's plan to launch a campaign against drug abuse in Tenkasi, with the participation of central ministers, aiming to unite all sectors of society against this issue. He responded to questions about political symbols for Naam Tamilar Katchi and Seeman, suggesting that legitimacy and formal recognition are prerequisites for such entitlements. Furthermore, he defended the BJP's use of images of MGR and Jayalalithaa, stating that Prime Minister Modi respects and discusses all leaders, irrespective of their party affiliations, highlighting a non-partisan appreciation for their contributions to the nation.

The BJP State President criticized the opposition for lacking a constructive path and noted that his focus remains on the party's objectives for the upcoming parliamentary elections, adhering to any directive from Prime Minister Modi, underscoring his commitment and readiness for any role assigned within the party framework.
