Intensive Pulse Polio programme on 2nd April,2017.

The Intensive Pulse Polio programme covering children aged less than five will begin on 2nd April, 2017. 

An initiative of the Tamil Nadu Health department and Rotary International, this polio drive will benefit close to 3.33 lakh children in the district of Coimbatore. 

'Around 1581 polio drops centre will be established in the District of Coimbatore which will benefit 3.33 lakh children below the age group of 5 years. 

34 centres will be established in prominent places of the city like Railway stations, bus stations, airports and commercials joints to ensure 100% vaccination. 20 mobile vans will tour the city with qualified staff to administer polio drops to children who are unable to present to the vaccination centres.

Around 6324 staff from health and rural department, Anganwadi staffs, Volunteers from NGOs and Rotary clubs will be deputed at the centres for smooth and efficient conduct of the drive' said District Collector T.N. Hariharan 

He also added that the polio drops administered at the centres are of utmost quality and have been approved by the Health Department is completely safe and sans any side effects.

Hence, parents are advised to make use of this opportunity to provide polio drops to their children below 5 years of age and help in eradicating the disease from their child and the nation.

The second dosage of polio drops will be administered on 30th April, 2017.
