Tusker reported dead in Sholayur.

Today morning, a tusker was spotted dead in Sholayur forest range. Sholayur is a small village located in the Tamil Nadu-Kerala, which is 35 kms away from Coimbatore. Initial reports indicate that this male elephant could have off slipped off while trying to reach the branch of a jack fruit tree.

The tusker's leg was seen locked between the tree trunk and hence it is presumed that after a long struggle the tusker could have died. The forest officials have rushed to the spot to rescue the corpse and conduct a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact reason for death.

'The sight of an adult tusker, dead with it's leg struck on a tree trunk was a pathetic sight to witness', said the locals who live along the Sholayur forest area.
