Congress Announces Five Revolutionary Promises for Women

The Congress party pledges five transformative initiatives for women as part of its manifesto for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, including annual financial assistance of ₹1 lakh for impoverished women, 50% reservation in Union government jobs, establishment of Savitri Bai Phule working hostels in every district for working women, appointment of special women officers in every Panchayat to address legal issues, and doubling the Union government's contribution to the salaries of Anganwadi, ASHA, and Mid-Day Meal scheme workers.

Coimbatore: In a significant move aimed at empowering women across the nation, the Congress party has rolled out five bold commitments. The pledges are set to address various socio-economic challenges faced by women and aim to promote gender equality in the workforce and society at large.

Firstly, the party promises to provide an annual financial aid of ₹1 lakh to impoverished women, offering them a substantial support system to improve their living standards and pursue opportunities for growth.

Secondly, to ensure equitable representation in the workforce, Congress proposes a 50% reservation for women in Union government jobs. This move is expected to open up numerous opportunities for women and pave the way for their increased participation in governance and administration.

Furthermore, recognizing the challenges faced by working women, the party plans to establish Savitri Bai Phule named dormitories in every district. These facilities are designed to provide safe and affordable accommodation, enabling women to pursue their careers without the burden of finding suitable lodging.

In an effort to address the legal challenges faced by women at the grassroots level, the Congress intends to appoint a special women officer in every Panchayat. These officers will be tasked with resolving legal issues faced by women, ensuring their access to justice and support.

Lastly, the party has announced plans to double the Union government's contribution to the salaries of Anganwadi, ASHA, and Mid-Day Meal scheme workers. This increase in remuneration is aimed at recognizing the valuable contribution of these workers to the community and improving their financial security.

These comprehensive initiatives by the Congress party are seen as a significant step towards uplifting women and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
