Coimbatore: In a striking display of dissent, the DMK Women's Wing and Cadre Team in Coimbatore North, gathered near Thoppampatti division, Thudiyalur, to express their disapproval of actress-turned-BJP leader Khushbu's recent remarks. The protest was marked by the burning of Khushbu's effigy and physical demonstrations of contempt using slippers and brooms against her portrait.
Organized by the North District Women's Cadre Team's leader, Ranganayaki, with Rathi Manoharan, the North District Women's Wing Organizer, taking a prominent role, the protest also saw participation from significant DMK members. Among the attendees were the East Union Secretary and District Councilor Karthik, and the 9th Ward Councilor of Kurudampalayam, Arulraj, emphasizing the collective disapproval of Khushbu's comments.
The DMK women raised slogans demanding an apology from Khushbu for her alleged derogatory comments about women. The intensity of the protest escalated as participants stamped on Khushbu's photograph, set it ablaze, and burnt an effigy representing her, vividly demonstrating their opposition. Police present at the site promptly intervened by dousing the flames.
