The 6th edition of the Inspire India Youth Conclave (IIYC 2024) at Kumaraguru Institutions focused on mental health, featuring distinguished speakers and a rich agenda of discussions, workshops, and a keynote address.

Coimbatore: Kumaraguru Institutions hosted the 6th edition of the Inspire India Youth Conclave 2024 (IIYC), as part of their annual techno-cultural sports event, Yugam 2024. This year's conclave placed a significant emphasis on mental health, drawing over 18 renowned speakers from various fields to explore and discuss the complexities surrounding mental well-being.

The event featured a rich program including four panel discussions, two monologues, two workshops, and a keynote address, making IIYC 24 a comprehensive platform for delving into mental health issues. Among the themes, the conclave highlighted the importance of aligning one's personal passions and sense of purpose with their pursuits, illustrating how such alignment can serve as a buffer against stress and adversity.

The discussions also ventured into the cultivation of mental resilience in high-stress environments, with speakers sharing insights on strategies to maintain mental well-being under pressure. Additionally, the role of social media in shaping perceptions of mental health emerged as a critical topic, with participants debating the influence of media portrayal on public attitudes towards mental health challenges and the need for accurate and empathetic representations.

In a significant move to bolster mental health support within the community, the Conclave saw the launch of a Student-led Mental Health Forum. The forum was inaugurated by notable figures including Lt Cdr Bijay G Nair, a Kargil War Veteran, Dr. K. Kiruthiga, the Coimbatore District Psychiatrist, and Dr. K. Ramachandran, Director of the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (Retd), marking Kumaraguru's commitment to fostering a supportive dialogue and environment for mental well-being.

IIYC 24 successfully fostered a holistic understanding of mental health, providing participants with valuable insights and resources. By bringing together experts, professionals, and advocates to discuss mental well-being, the Conclave not only addressed pressing mental health issues but also equipped attendees with the knowledge and tools to navigate their mental health journeys effectively.
