Coimbatore School Under Scrutiny for Involving Students in Political Rally

In Coimbatore, the District Elementary Education Officer has directed a private school to take strict action against its headmaster and staff for involving students in a political rally, highlighting a breach of the Election Commission's policies.

Coimbatore: The education sector in Coimbatore has come under the spotlight after a private school was found to have taken students to a political rally, prompting the District Education Officer (DEO) - Elementary to demand stringent action.

This development follows news reports on SimpliCity and Hindu and Indian Express that students were spotted at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign rally.

The DEO Elementary, Punitha Anthoniyammal, has called for an explanation from the school management, underscoring the Election Commission of India’s stringent 'zero tolerance' policy towards the involvement of children in the electoral process.

The issue pertains to students being seen at a roadshow event attended by the Prime Minister in the Sai Baba Temple area, involving a government-aided school.

This move by the education official highlights the serious view taken by authorities on the use of educational institutions and their students in political events, emphasizing the need for adherence to electoral norms and regulations.
