Former Priests Arrested for Vandalizing All Soul's Church in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore's Race Course area, former priests Charles Samraj and Rajesh were arrested for vandalizing the CSI All Souls' Church, causing significant unrest among the community members.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident that has rattled the Coimbatore community, former priests Charles Samraj and Rajesh have been arrested for vandalizing the CSI All Souls' Church located in the Race Course area of Coimbatore.

The church, known for its significant congregation, became the site of controversy after allegations of corruption and misconduct were leveled against the priests, leading to their dismissal by CSI Church Bishop Timothy Ravinder.Despite being ordered to vacate the church residence five months ago, the accused continued participating in church activities and refused to leave, prompting legal action.

Their defiance culminated last night (March 30) during preparations for an Easter special prayer service.

The former priests forcefully entered the prayer hall, breaking doors and vandalizing CCTV cameras, and allegedly took some items with them.The church secretary, Prabhakaran, filed a complaint leading to their arrest by Race Course police.

The police have charged them under five sections and are conducting further investigations. This Easter incident has sparked widespread outrage in Coimbatore.
