In celebration of Ambedkar's birth anniversary, a special prayer was held at a Buddhist temple near Udumalai, attended by Minority Commission Member Bhikkhu Maurya among others, promoting peace and social harmony ahead of the parliamentary elections.
Coimbatore: A special prayer session was conducted at a Buddhist temple located at the foot of the hills near Selvapuram village, close to Elaiyamuthur in Udumalai area, Tiruppur district. The event marked the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Local Buddhist followers, who own private land in the area, have established the temple where they regularly perform rituals and provide community meals.

The event saw the participation of Minority Commission Member and Buddhist monk Bhikkhu Maurya. The prayer aimed at fostering world peace and social harmony, especially important as the country approaches parliamentary elections without any violence. Key figures including Thirupathi from Tamil Tigers of Tiruppur South, Ravi Kumar of Madathukulam Union, Nambirajan from the media sector of Elaiyamuthur, Palanisamy, the DMK leader of Elaiyamuthur, Coimbatore Anandan, temple administrators Kalaiappan and Saravanan, and several others were in attendance.
