Isha Outreach inaugurated a state-of-the-art soil testing laboratory on April 16, 2024, in Pooluvapatti, Coimbatore, offering free services to 10,000 farmers across 25 FPOs, aiming to improve soil health and agricultural productivity.
Coimbatore: On April 16, 2024, Isha Outreach took a significant step towards agricultural innovation and support for the farming community by inaugurating a new, state-of-the-art soil testing laboratory in Pooluvapatti.

This facility is set to provide crucial services free of charge to approximately 10,000 farmers who are members of 25 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).

The laboratory is equipped with the latest technology and instruments necessary for performing comprehensive soil tests. Tests conducted here will measure organic matter, nutrient levels, micronutrients, and other essential soil properties. The objective is to furnish farmers with detailed insights about their soil, which can help them optimize fertilizer usage, enhance crop yields, and ultimately improve their income and sustainability of their lands.

Venkat Rasa, Project Director at Isha Outreach FPO, highlighted the importance of the laboratory's services, stating, “These free soil tests and the subsequent recommendations are invaluable assets for our farmers. They enable our farmers to understand precise nutrient and organic matter levels in their soil, assisting them in customizing their agricultural practices to better suit their specific crop and soil requirements.â€

Adding to the agricultural initiatives, a significant event took place later in the day when a fleet of 33 motorcycles for the "Save Soil Movement" was flagged off near Adiyogi. These motorcycles are part of a broader effort to assist FPOs in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. They will enable FPO teams to reach out more effectively to remote farming communities, spreading awareness, mobilizing resources, and addressing soil health challenges efficiently.
