In Selvapuram, Coimbatore, three individuals were arrested for allegedly threatening a sexual harassment victim's father to withdraw the case or to testify in their favor, reportedly offering him 15 Lakhs.
Coimbatore: In a disturbing development in the Selvapuram sexual harassment case, three persons have been arrested for pressuring the victim’s father into withdrawing the case or testifying favorably for the accused. The incident dates back to 2019 when a 44-year-old man from Selvapuram reported that his daughter was sexually harassed by local youth. The case has been in trial at the Coimbatore Women’s Court.
On April 22, while the father was in the Selvapuram area, he was approached by the accused, who allegedly offered him 15 lakhs to testify in their favor or withdraw the complaint. Upon his refusal, the accused reportedly assaulted him and threatened him with a knife, escaping shortly after.
The case was immediately reported to the Selvapuram Police, who then arrested Bubs Karthik, Auto Mani, and Manikandan for intimidation. It is noteworthy that Bubs Karthik is facing multiple other charges, including POCSO and atrocities against women in several cases in Coimbatore police stations.
