Two female teachers have been suspended near Dharapuram when they allegedly made two students clean the school's toilets, sparking controversy and investigation by the district authorities.
Dharapuram: A distressing incident has come to light from Kumarapalayam Government Middle School situated in Kulathupalayam village near Dharapuram, where two teachers, Ilamathi Easwari and Chitra, reportedly coerced two sixth-grade students into cleaning the school toilets. These students hailed from the nearby village, Karunkali Valasu, and had been performing this task for over a month, as unearthed during an investigation.
The issue caught public attention when a video detailing the girls' ordeal went viral on social media platforms. Following immediate orders from Tiruppur District Collector Kristhavaraj, significant inquiries were launched by local authorities including Dharapuram Revenue Officer Senthil Arasan, Block Education Officer Govindasamy, and District Chief Educational Officer Geetha. The thorough probe confirmed the coercion by the teaching staff. As a result, both Ilamathi Easwari and Chitra were placed under suspension. It is noteworthy that Ilamathi Easwari, the headteacher involved, is scheduled to retire at the end of this month.
