'District Administrators change but our plight never changes' women of Pillayarpuram area allege

Around 100 irked residents mostly women of Pillayarpuram area of the city gathered at the District Collectorate to highlight their plight on water shortage.

'The salt water pipe line laid by the Corporation dispenses water only every 15 days. Hence, we close to 500 families are always struck in water crisis. We are forced to buy water from private sources which costs between Rs. 300-700. On an average we spent Rs. 12/- per pot of water.

Our ward Councillor has stated that since we live in unapproved lands, nothing much can be done about the issue.

'Despite filing petitions none of the officials pay a heed to our issues. Earlier, we have filed petitions to different Collectors, the administrators change but not our issues' said the residents of Pillayarpuram.
