Residents Protest for Regular Water Supply in Moongil Tholuvu, Traffic Disrupted

Over 100 residents of Moongil Tholuvu near Udumalai demonstrated with empty pots demanding regular water supply, disrupting traffic on Pollachi-Dharapuram road for over half an hour.

Coimbatore: In a pressing call for consistent water supply, more than 100 villagers near Udumalai conducted a road blockade with empty vessels at Pethappampatti crossroads today, causing significant disruption to the traffic along the Pollachi-Dharapuram road. Residents of Moongil Tholuvu, a locality where over 200 families reside, have faced severe water shortages recently.

The main pipeline supplying water to the village broke down near Pethappampatti, halting the water supply. Despite repeated complaints to the Gudimangalam union office, residents claimed no effective action was taken until their protest. Following the demonstration, Water Supply Board officials arrived at the site and assured that the water line would be fixed soon, prompting villagers to temporarily withdraw their protest.
