Ammonia Gas Leak Leads to Factory Sealing in Mettupalayam

In Chenni Veeram Palayam, near Mettupalayam, an ammonia gas leak at a private chips manufacturing company caused respiratory and eye irritation among locals. The Revenue Department sealed the factory on April 30.


Coimbatore: A serious incident occurred in Chenni Veeram Palayam near Mettupalayam where an ammonia gas leak at a private chips manufacturing facility caused significant distress. This event took place the night before last, leading to respiratory issues and severe eye irritation for the local residents. Following the incident, the Revenue Department took swift action and sealed the factory on April 30. Additionally, legal cases have been filed against five individuals in connection to this incident. As a precautionary measure, over 100 police officers were deployed in the area to ensure public safety and monitor the situation further.
