49th Convocation Ceremony Held at Udumalai Government Arts College

The 49th Convocation Ceremony was held at the Udumalai Government Arts College in Tirupur district. Dr. S.K. Kalyani chaired the event, and hundreds of students received their degrees.


Coimbatore: The Udumalai Government Arts College in Tirupur district recently celebrated its 49th Convocation Ceremony in the college auditorium. The event was presided over by the college principal, Dr. S.K. Kalyani, who also introduced the special guests and read the annual college report. A total of 796 students, including 657 undergraduate and 139 postgraduate students, were awarded degrees during the ceremony.




Special guest Dr. V. Kalaichelvi, the Coimbatore Regional Director of Collegiate Education, delivered the convocation address. She emphasized the importance of self-love and independence in achieving success and urged the graduates to cherish the sacrifices of their parents. She highlighted that books are the best companions for expanding horizons and understanding diverse perspectives. Dr. Kalaichelvi encouraged the students to become multilingual, distinguishing themselves in a global context.




During her speech, she stated, "It’s only when we love ourselves that we can love others. Books are our steadfast allies in this journey of life. They help us navigate and shape our future roles in this expansive world." She urged the students to prepare themselves as unique individuals ready to make an indelible mark on the world.




The ceremony also recognized 11 students who achieved outstanding academic excellence at the university level, providing them with special awards for their accomplishments. The event saw a significant turnout including department heads, professors, students, and parents, all coordinated by the head of the Chemistry Department, Professor M. Sivakumar.
