Coimbatore: The revered Kolumam Kottai Mariamman Temple near Udumalai has commenced its annual Chithirai Festival, an event marked by extensive religious fervor and community participation. Beginning on April 23 with a fasting ritual followed by a majestic Abishekam and Alangara Pooja at the Amaravathi river, the night was concluded with the 'Thirukkampam' event around 11 PM.



Next in the lineup is the much-anticipated 'Oor Poo Oodu' event scheduled for May 7 and a grand procession of Goddess Mariamman on her chariot on May 8 night at 9 PM. The deity will bless the congregated devotees as the chariot travels along the streets.

The Chithirai Festival, known for its powerful congregation of societal bonds and spiritual worship, continues to draw vast numbers of devotees. The event's success is ensured by meticulous arrangements from the Temple Guardians' Committee and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Administration.
