Lightning Strike Ignites Coconut Tree in Selvapuram, Coimbatore

During a storm on May 6, lightning struck a coconut tree in Selvapuram, Coimbatore, causing it to catch fire. Locals alerted the fire department, who extinguished the fire.


Coimbatore: In the midst of soaring summer temperatures across Tamil Nadu, the Chennai Meteorological Center had forecasted heavy rain for several districts on May 6. Last night, as rain poured over Selvapuram in Coimbatore, a sudden lightning strike set a coconut tree ablaze. Alerted by local residents, the fire department swiftly responded to the scene and successfully doused the fire. Thankfully, no casualties were reported in the incident, and the quick response averted further damage.
