E-Pass Check Implemented for Vehicles Heading to Ooty from Mettupalayam

E-Pass checks started on May 7 for vehicles traveling to Ooty from Mettupalayam in Coimbatore. Only vehicles registered in Nilgiris and government buses are exempt.

Coimbatore: Starting today, vehicles heading to Ooty from Mettupalayam will be subjected to an E-Pass check, enforcing a new travel compliance measure. The initiative targets to streamline vehicle movement and ensure verified entries into the Nilgiris district.

The checkpoints have been established at strategic locations including Thirupalai, Mettupalayam, and Kallar. Vehicles without a pass are being stopped at these points, where authorities are facilitating the online registration of an E-Pass.

Excluding vehicles registered in Nilgiris district and government buses, all other vehicles are mandated to secure an E-Pass to advance to their destinations. This measure aims to control traffic and enhance safety measures during travel to the hill station.
