Public stage sit-in-protest for adding new Tasmacs' in residential areas.

Following the Supreme Court's order to close all TASMAC shops along the state and national highways, operation of 3316 tasmac shops were terminated in Tamil Nadu and 180 shops in Coimbatore. People, especially women have expressed a sigh of relief and welcomed this move.

However, allegations erupt that the officials are busy searching for new locations inside the city to compensate for the loss of all closed Tasmacs'.

Agitated by one such incident, the residents of Ramamatchipalayam, Sulur decided to take to the streets to show their condemnation of adding a new Tasmac in one of their residential area which is amidst schools, colleges and temples.

The infuriated public stated that 'We were happy that all Tasmacs' on the highways are closed. While we are urging to shift all Tasmacs' from residential areas to remote outskirts of the city adding new Tasmacs' in residential areas is deplorable'.

Police intervened in the protests and assured the residents to hold talks with the concerned officials of re-shifting the Tasmac to another location. After the assurance, the public cleared their protests. However, close to an hour the traffic came to a stand still on the Coimbatore Sulur Main Road.
