GKNM Hospital Celebrates International Nurses Day with Special Event

On May 11, GKNM Hospital in Coimbatore celebrated International Nurses Day, honoring nurses for their continuous service. Awards were given to veterans with over 25 years in the field.


Coimbatore: The dedicated service of nurses, who form the backbone of the medical sector, is celebrated globally on May 12th each year as International Nurses Day. This year, GKNM Hospital in Coimbatore commemorated the occasion a day early on May 11, hosting a special event to honor these healthcare heroes.

The ceremony began by awarding 'Achievement Awards' to nurses who had served in the profession for more than 25 years, recognizing their unwavering commitment to healthcare. Dr. G. Manoharan, the Chief Medical Officer of GKNM Hospital, personally presented the awards. He highlighted the theme of this year's Nurses Day, 'Nurses: A Voice to Lead - A vision for future healthcare', which emphasizes the pivotal role of nurses in shaping the future of healthcare.

Dr. G. Manoharan gave a speech on the crucial economic impact of nursing care and its essential role in the future of medical practice.



The event also included various competitions that showcased the talents of the nurses, and the winners were duly recognized and awarded. The entire hospital staff, including doctors and administrators, extended their congratulations and support to the nursing community, boosting their morale and acknowledging their critical contributions.
