BJP leader H Raja's brother suspended on the day of his retirement


BJP national secretary H Raja’s brother H Sunder who was serving as Joint Managing Director of  Tamil Nadu Transport Development Finance Corporation (TDFC) in Chennai was placed under suspension  on the day of his retirement on March 31 subsequent to the registration of a case filed by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) in connection with the financial irregularities committed in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Kumbakonam Division during his stint as audit officer to entertain the guests of former transport minister K N Nehru during the DMK rule between 2006 and 2011.

H Sunder who had been, on deputation, serving as Joint Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Transport Development Finance Corporation (TDFC) in Chennai till March 30 was transferred to his parent body (Kumbakonam Division of TNSTC) on the day of his retirement and then placed under suspension on the orders of Chandrakant B Kamble, Secretary to Government, Transport Department.

The DVAC filed a case based on the direction from the Madurai bench of Madras High Court on June 4, 2015. The court directed the DVAC to file a first information report (FIR) against Nehru and 18 officials for the alleged offence in the wake of a writ petition filed by N Govindaraju, a resident of Thanjavur and a dismissed employee of TNSTC, who had obtained the details under the RTI Act.

Govindarajan, in his petition, had alleged that the TNSTC funds were diverted to meet the air travel, food and lodging expenses of Mr Nehru’s guests in Tiruchy during his stint as state transport minister.
