Coimbatore: At the recent CII-SR conference titled "Empower, Embrace, Evolve: Elevating EHS Excellence," local leader G Soundararajan from CRI Pumps emphasized Coimbatore's pioneering role in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices. The conference, hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry – Southern Region (CII-SR), spotlighted technological advancements and community involvement in environmental initiatives, such as waste management and recycling. The event also saw the release of the EHS Practices Compendium.
In further discussions, Dr R Nandini, Chairperson of CII Southern Region and Managing Director at Chandra Textiles, elaborated on Coimbatore's diversified industrial base, including textiles and manufacturing, and highlighted the implementation of vital EHS measures in these sectors. She stressed the importance of occupational health and safety programs designed to protect workers' wellbeing and reduce environmental impacts.
P Ravichandran and Sudeep Dalvi, leading figures at Danfoss Industries and Toyota Kirloskar Motor respectively, addressed the need for EHS integration into business culture and the value of invisible KPIs in defining organizational ethos. The conference also included panel discussions on enhancing EHS excellence and distributed over 208 awards across various categories including Environment Restoration and Health at Workplace, underscoring the city’s commitment to EHS advancements.
