Coimbatore: In a drive to enhance the water supply system, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS personally oversaw the ongoing 24-hour water supply project operations in the northern zone of the municipality.

This initiative, taking place across several wards including K.K. Nagar, Ganapathy, and Gandhi Nagar, aims at ensuring efficient and superior water delivery to the residents.

During his visit on May 16, 2024, Commissioner Prabakaran instructed the concerned officials to expedite and maintain the quality of the infrastructure works.

In an earlier project phase, the Corporation Commissioner reviewed the construction of an overhead water tank in Kavalagar Kudiyiruppu area, designed to hold about 19.80 million liters, set to benefit many local communities.

Post inspection, discussions were held on infrastructure improvements including underpasses and pipelines essential for the Kikani School region and surrounding areas of Kuniamuthur.

This included overseeing railway underpass developments in conjunction with the Chennai Railways Zone, leading the integration of vital water pipelines and drainage systems with Hirithiyesh Kumar, the Principal Zonal Engineer and other municipal engineers.

The rigorous agenda set by Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran along with Hirithiyesh Kumar not only involves the current inspection but continuous oversight to ensure the projects align with the set municipal standards. The coordination between the municipal office, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board and private contractors like SUEZ is crucial in executing these civic projects efficiently.
