The Shakthi Mariamman Temple Festival in Sugunapuram, Coimbatore, witnessed enthusiastic participation including a dance performance by former minister S.P. Velumani on May 17, 2024.
Coimbatore: The Sugunapuram area in Coimbatore was filled with vibrant and festive energy as the Shakthi Mariamman Temple Festival was celebrated. The festival featured various traditional practices, including a significant Thiruvilakku Puja conducted on May 17, 2024.
Former minister and AIADMK's chief secretary, S.P. Velumani, attended the event along with S.P. Anbarasan, the head of Nallaram Trust and social activist, and his brother Senthilkumar. This was followed by Vidyadevi Velumani starting the ritual by lighting the ceremonial lamp with her daughter, which saw over a hundred women participate with devotion, offering sandal and kumkum to the sacred lamp.

Following the puja, the temple authority honored S.P. Velumani, S.P. Anbarasan, and Senthilkumar by adorning them with shawls and providing them with the highest respect. In response to the devotees' request, S.P. Velumani took to the stage and danced to the accompaniment of jubilant music. His energetic performance uplifted everyone present.
The festival culminated with all the attendees being served a communal feast, continuing the tradition of sharing and community spirit within the temple precincts.
