Buddha Purnima Celebrated with Special Milk Porridge Distribution in Udumalpet

Udamalai celebrated Buddha Purnima with a special event distributing sweetened milk porridge. The event was held near the central bus station, led by Tirupur Tamil Puligal Party and attended by over 500 people.


Tirupur: Buddha Purnima, the significant festival commemorating the enlightenment, birth, and passing away of Gautama Buddha, was observed with fervor on May 23 in Eliyamuthur village near Udumalpet, Tirupur district. The celebration was marked by a special event where milk porridge sweetened with jaggery was distributed to the public.

The event, organized in front of the Udumalpet Central Bus Station, saw the participation of the district secretary of Tamil Puligal Party from Tirupur, Thirupathi, who led the proceedings. The leader of the Buddha Dhamma Knowledge Temple, Vijayakanth, and Sivagami Velan were prominently present, overseeing the distribution.



Approximately 500 locals benefited from this timely gesture, as milk porridge was generously handed out to the attendees. Among those who joined the distribution were administrators like Guru, Gautham, Kaliyappan, Saravanan, and many others who played crucial roles in the event’s success. This celebration not only reflected on the spiritual teachings of Buddha but also fostered community spirit and charity.
