Over the past few days, summer rains have provided relief to the people of Coimbatore. Detailed rainfall data across the district for yesterday was released today, May 22.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore has been enjoying a respite from the heat with several days of summer rains cooling the region. The District Disaster Management Department released detailed rainfall data for the various locations within the district on May 22.
According to the data, significant rainfall measurements from different areas include Coimbatore Airport with 41.3 mm, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University recording 31.2 mm, while Periyanaickenpalayam received 6.4 mm. Mettupalayam, Bhavani Dam, and Annur all recorded no rainfall. The southern regions around Coimbatore tallied a substantial 56 mm, Sulur had 25.2 mm, and Varapatti’s peak was impressive at 80 mm. Other notable readings included Thondamuthur with 23 mm, Siruvani foothills at 26 mm, and Madukkarai Taluk at 14 mm.
Podanur Railway Station reported 6 mm of rainfall, while Pollachi received 52 mm. Makkinampatti was soaked with 82 mm and Kinathukadavu Taluk saw 17 mm. Anaimalai Taluk and Azhiyar had 23 mm and 146 mm, respectively, showing significant activity in these areas. Other areas of interest included the PAP of Valparai at 14 mm, Valparai Taluk at 16 mm, and Sholayar with 12 mm. Overall, the district accumulated a total of 721.1 mm of rainfall, with an average rainfall of 31.35 mm.
