Mysterious Death in Coimbatore Reclassified as Accident, Ongoing Investigation Revealed

Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan announced the reclassification of a previously suspicious death case to an accident, with ongoing investigations highlighting procedural issues with the municipal corporation and the electricity board.

Coimbatore: In a recent development, the Coimbatore Police Commissioner, Balakrishnan, has clarified that a case initially registered under suspicious circumstances has now been reclassified as an accident. This announcement followed a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident that led to casualties. Initially registered under CRPC 174 for suspicious death, it later transitioned to a case under section 304-A as an accidental death following further investigation.

Following the reclassification, Commissioner Balakrishnan emphasized that action would be taken against those responsible for the accident, as well as those who indirectly contributed to the mishap. Meanwhile, flaws in procedural adherence at the municipal corporation and the local electricity board have come to light. These entities did not have proper approvals for electrical connections under the park where the incident occurred.

Balakrishnan assured that no actions have been taken against any involved parties yet, as the investigation continues. He pledged that appropriate measures would be taken once the investigation is concluded.

In addition to addressing this incident, Balakrishnan highlighted current issues related to U-Turns in the city’s traffic arrangement, acknowledging that while traffic jams have somewhat decreased, there remain some areas for improvement to further streamline the traffic flow.

The Commissioner also mentioned ongoing health camps organized by the Coimbatore Police in collaboration with Ganga Hospital and Young Indians.

These camps provide free medical check-ups for police and their families focusing on breast cancer and diabetes at Coimbatore PRS Ground, enhancing physical and mental wellbeing among officers.
