The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris district, renowned for its beauty, has come alive with the commencement of the summer season, attracting a large number of tourists to areas like Coonoor and Ooty.

Amid this festive atmosphere, the 64th Annual Fruit Show began on May 24 as part of the concluding events of the summer festival. Collector M. Aruna inaugurated the show, which spans three days.

This year, the exhibition features over 5 tons of fruits such as grapes, oranges, lemons, and dates, creatively arranged to form shapes like King Kong, Mickey Mouse, dinosaurs, ducks, and snails.

These artistic displays have been particularly captivating for children among the visitors.

Moreover, the Department of Horticulture has set up stalls representing various districts including Krishnagiri, Thanjavur, Namakkal, Karur, Madurai, Trichy, Perambalur, and Coimbatore, showcasing the fruits grown in these regions. The array of fruits not only adds to the visual delight but also promotes local agriculture.

In conjunction with the Fruit Show, the SIMS Park in Coonoor, a favorite among tourists, is particularly bustling. Traditionally a two-day event, this year's exhibition has been extended to three days in celebration of SIMS Park’s 150th anniversary, adding to the festive spirit.
