Coimbatore Bomb Blast Convict Arrested After Months in Hiding

Abu Thaheer, a 45-year-old from Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore, convicted previously in a bomb blast case and lately on the run, was arrested by CBI in Ukkadam after months in hiding.



Coimbatore: In a notable crackdown, Abu Thaheer, 45, from Kuniyamuthur area of Coimbatore, who had served a 10-year sentence for a bomb blast case, has been arrested after evading the police for months. Thaheer, recently involved in fraud and robbery, had been absconding following a seven-year imprisonment verdict delivered by a judge three months ago.

Thaheer's case was transferred to CBI, under whose jurisdiction the relentless pursuit for his capture had been underway. Operating on confidential information, CBI learned he was hiding in the Ukkadam area, leading to his arrest on May 23. He was then presented to the court and subsequently remanded to Coimbatore Central Prison.
