Coimbatore Police arrested a gang for selling banned Kerala state lottery tickets near Thudiyalur. The raid conducted on May 29 led to the capture of four men and seizure of various items.
Coimbatore: In an extensive operation, Coimbatore Police cracked down on a group illegally selling banned Kerala lottery tickets in the Thudiyalur area. Following a tip-off about the illicit activity, police patrols intensified on the Thudiyalur-Saravanampatti road on May 29.
During the sweep, police arrested Vinodkumar (39) from S.M. Palayam, Satheesh Kumar (39) from Vellakinar, Pradeep (34) from S.M. Palayam, and Adish Kannan (28) from Nallampalayam, all allegedly involved in the sale of the prohibited tickets.
Further investigations led to the discovery of one car, nine mobile phones, Rs. 1,61,000 in cash, and five laptops along with 96 Kerala state lottery tickets. Another accomplice, named Prabhu, managed to flee the scene and is currently being sought by the police.
The crackdown signifies a broader initiative by local law enforcement to combat illegal gambling operations, reinforcing the strict enforcement of state gambling laws.
