Coimbatore: On June 14, 2024, representatives of the Vishva Hindu Parishad in Coimbatore submitted a formal petition condemning the terrorist attack on Hindu pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, which occurred on June 9, 2024. The attack happened on a bus carrying pilgrims from the Vaishno Devi temple towards the Shivagori cave, which was ambushed by terrorists allegedly supported by Pakistan, resulting in the death of 10 individuals including a child, with 33 others sustaining serious gunshot wounds.

The petition was submitted by Ravindran (Personal Assistant to the District Collector), along with the district secretary Satish, district organizer of the Cow Protection Group, Karthik, and the district organizer for Dharma Prasar. This submission is part of a nationwide protest by the organization, expressing their strong disapproval of the vile attack targeting peaceful spiritual travelers.

The incident, which took place on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office following the election results, added to the gravity of the situation, as the country was poised at a critical juncture. The Vishva Hindu Parishad has vigorously condemned this aggressive act and demanded increased security for pilgrims and stringent actions against the perpetrating groups. Such events highlight the continued jeopardy faced by pilgrims in conflict-prone areas and the pressing need for international cooperation to prevent these heinous crimes.
