Kannadasan Kazhagam hosted the annual Kannadasan Award ceremony in Coimbatore, honoring literary figures, with Poet Palanibharathi receiving the accolade and a cash prize.
Coimbatore: The Kannadasan Kazhagam, located in Pappanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore, continues its tradition of honoring literary figures annually with the Kannadasan Award. The award ceremony took place at the GKNM Higher Secondary School on June 16, marking its 17th year. Architect Ramani Shankar chaired the event while M. Krishnan, Chairman of Sri Krishna Sweets, presided over the gathering. Poet Palanibharathi was awarded the prestigious Kannadasan Award, which included a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a commendation certificate.
In addition to Palanibharathi, Poet A. Vennila was also recognized with the Kannadasan Award and received both a monetary prize and a commemorative certificate. The event featured insightful lectures focused on Kannadasan's perspectives and poetic beauty. The talks, titled "Kannadasan’s Vision of Politics" by Poet Marabin Maindhan Muthaiya and "The Beauty in Kannadasan's Songs" by Ramanan, added depth to the celebration. The event was adeptly coordinated by Dr. N. Shyamala.
