Two Arrested for Selling Drugs and Ganja Near Sungam Bypass in Coimbatore

On June 18, Coimbatore police arrested two individuals near Sungam Bypass for selling ganja and other narcotic substances. Seized items include methamphetamine, marijuana and mobile phones.


Coimbatore: In an ongoing effort to eradicate the use of narcotics, Coimbatore police have intensified their operations across the city. During a routine patrol on Sungam Bypass Road on June 18, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing apprehended two suspects near Thyagi Sivaram Nagar Junction.


Upon questioning, the responses from the suspects appeared inconsistent, prompting a search. The search led to the discovery of their involvement in the narcotics trade. Subsequently, Venkaya businessman Rashal Francis, 32, from Thondamuthur Onapalayam, and Jitendar Singh Pangu, 35, from Punjab, were arrested.


Police confiscated 5 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of ganja and three mobile phones from their possession. The arrested individuals were later presented in court and have been remanded in custody.
