Karthik Raja’s Concert Set to Enthrall Music Lovers in Coimbatore on August 17

Composer Karthik Raja's upcoming concert in Coimbatore, initially planned in Malaysia, will now take place at Hindustan College of Arts and Science on August 17 due to unforeseen complications abroad.

Coimbatore: The city is buzzing with anticipation as it gears up to host a musical event by composer Karthik Raja on August 17 at Hindustan College of Arts and Science. The concert, originally planned to be held in Malaysia, was relocated due to logistical issues. “This is my first performance in Coimbatore, and I am thrilled to present it,” Karthik Raja revealed during a press meet held at the Kerala Club near Hindu Office on June 16.

He shared insights into his decision to shift the event's location and talked about his excitement to perform infront of Coimbatore’s audience. “I’d joyfully sing for free if that's what the people want,” he added. Karthik Raja also mentioned that the program would include songs by his father, Ilaiyaraaja, and would span approximately three to four hours.

Discussing musical tastes, Karthik Raja highlighted the regional differences in music appreciation. “While the people in our town might enjoy the nectar-like melodies of 'Madhura Marikolunthu', audiences in other cities have different preferences,” he noted, emphasizing the universal appeal of Tamil cinema music.

The composer also addressed the modern trend of shorter song durations, likening current music consumption to fast food. “Songs used to be like a full meal served on a leaf, but now it's more like a quick burger,” he commented, responding to queries about the evolution in music.

Furthermore, he confirmed that all the songs performed would be fully licensed, respecting copyright laws and ensuring legal compliance.

At the conclusion of the press meet, Karthik Raja, responding to a request, melodiously performed "Thendral Vanthu Theendumbothu", leaving the reporters and attendees longing for the upcoming concert.
